Mar 13, 2012 · I have 7mm-08's both short 20" and 21" in length. I used H-414, IMR-4064, WW-760, and Big Game recently. I have used H-380 but it does have pressure issues at the top when temps rose above 65 deg for me. @42.0 grains of Varget under most 140's works well just have to adjust overall length if magazine allows.
Load data for 7mm 150 gr. Scenar bullets in 7mm-08 is rare. I would consult other load manuals such as Sierra or go online at Nosler and you should find the 7 08 and 150 grain bullet this will give you a minimum and maximum starting point for the several powders that would be listed. My Sierra manual shows minimum of IMR 4350 37.7 2400fps and maximum of 44.2 2700 fps.I know that to get the best performance out of these kind of bullets, you need to be on the higher end of in terms of velocity. I usually really like 140 gr Barnes TTSX (can't find any, anywhere) for my Savage 7mm-08 using 43.6 grains of RL-15 - good accuracy and no obvious pressure signs. That is plenty of speed and energy for deer at any distance. It’s also a comparatively light-kicking round.
