For a real nice treat, I recommend a meal at Harbor House Inn in Elk, about 15 miles south of Mendocino. It's a 2-star Michelin restaurant, so it's pricey, but the lunch setting should be cheaper. It's right on the coast with their own gardens/grounds descending downwards to a cove where they harvest some of the ingredients.
